Prentiss County Investigator Kolby Knight was hit by a motorist while conducting a traffic stop on Highway 371 north of Marietta, according to local officials.
He was transported to the emergency room in Tupelo, where he remains under medical care. Authorities say he is alert and talking, but medical staff are still assessing his injuries.
