Prentiss County Investigator Kolby Knight was struck by a motorist while conducting a traffic stop on Highway 371 north of Marietta, according to local authorities.
He was transported to a Tupelo hospital, where he remains in the emergency room. Medical staff reported he is alert and talking, but his injuries are still being assessed.
Officials have not released additional details about the incident or the condition of the motorist involved.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and have called for prayers for Knight’s recovery.
