Prentiss County Investigator Kolby Knight was hit by a motorist while conducting a traffic stop on Highway 371 north of Marietta, according to authorities.
He was transported to an emergency room in Tupelo, where medical staff reported he is alert and talking. His injuries are still being evaluated.
Officials have not released further details about the incident or his condition.
