Severe Weather Forecast for Tonight and Tomorrow in the Memphis Area

The National Weather Service in Memphis, Tennessee, has issued a forecast highlighting potential severe weather overnight and into Wednesday.

Tonight, the primary concerns are damaging winds and a low likelihood of tornadoes. While the tornado threat is considered minimal, any tornado that does develop could quickly strengthen to EF-2 intensity. The threat occurs after dark, posing a risk to sleeping residents. Authorities recommend having a way to receive warnings that can wake you if necessary.

On Wednesday, uncertainty remains about the severity of storms due to ongoing activity ahead of a frontal boundary and the remaining instability. Damaging winds are expected to be the main threat, with a potential increase in tornado risk across northern Mississippi during the afternoon and evening. The forecast describes this as a low-probability but high-impact scenario, with the possibility of a strong tornado.

Residents are advised to stay updated on the latest forecasts and ensure they have a severe weather plan in place.
