One Person in Custody After Three Separate Shootings at Mississippi High School Football Events
Three shootings connected to high school football and homecoming events across Mississippi left multiple people dead and injured Friday night and early Saturday morning.
In Leland, four people were killed and at least twelve injured when gunfire erupted near downtown shortly after Leland High School’s homecoming game against Charleston. Four victims were airlifted to hospitals. No arrests have been made.
In Heidelberg, a homecoming celebration at Heidelberg High turned deadly when shots were fired on school grounds, killing two people and wounding another. Authorities took 18-year-old Tylar Jarod Goodloe into custody for questioning in connection with the shooting.
In Rolling Fork, shots rang out during the South Delta High football game, injuring at least two people. No suspects have been identified.
State and local investigators continue to probe all three incidents, which have sparked concern over safety at school events across Mississippi.
