Mississippi opens recovery centers for winter storm survivors
The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency announced it will open six Disaster Recovery Centers and seven Disaster Survivor Assistance sites beginning at noon Monday, April 27, according to a news release.
The sites are part of the ongoing response to the January 23-27 winter ice storm, designated as disaster declaration DR-4899-MS. Disaster Survivor Assistance sites are expected to operate for about a week at each location, while Disaster Recovery Centers will remain open longer, based on foot traffic, officials said.
Additional Disaster Survivor Assistance sites will open in the coming weeks to provide face-to-face support to more residents in the affected counties. For more information, residents are encouraged to visit the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency’s website.
