MRHC confirms first COVID19 case in Alcorn County

MRHC confirmed their second positive test and first case in Alcorn County on Friday.

According to a press release from the hospital:

Magnolia Regional Health Center (MRHC) and the Mississippi State Department of Health have been notified of the second confirmed case of COVID-19 (Coronavirus). This is the first MRHC case reported in Alcorn County.

The patient was notified and instructed to follow self-isolation protocols, as recommended by the Mississippi State Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Out of respect for patient confidentiality, the hospital is unable to provide any additional details about the patient’s status or treatment.

“Our team is continuing to work diligently to provide care to our patients,” says MRHC CEO, Jim Hobson. “We will continue to follow protocols and guidelines provided to us by the CDC and Mississippi State Department of Health to ensure that COVID-19 patients, as well as others we’re caring for, receive timely and appropriate care.”

Hobson added, “I continue to be impressed by the knowledge and swift action our MRHC team displays. We have an extremely talented and caring team, and I am confident they will provide first-class care no matter the circumstance.”
