Nine ACE Power Linemen Sent to FL to Assist After Helene’s Damage
On Saturday, September 28, Alcorn County Electric Power Association, or ACE Power, sent nine of its linemen to assist another Electric Cooperative in the wake of Hurricane Helene.
According to a social media post from ACE Power, the nine linemen will be joining approximately 270 other Mississippi electric cooperative line workers that were also deployed. The ACE Power line workers will be assisting Talquin Electric Cooperative in Quincy, Florida.
Helene made landfall on Thursday evening in the Big Bend region of Florida. Weather experts called the storm “unsurvivable” before it hit land, and the damage left in her path has been almost unfathomable. According to ABC news, Helene was a category 4 hurricane, and the biggest hurricane on record to ever make landfall in the Big Bend region.
The damage extends from Florida up to North Carolina and in parts of Tennessee, and dozens have been killed with many more unaccounted for. Millions are without power in their homes.
More information on Helene’s damage will be released as it is made available.
