Child struck by 18-wheeler on Highway 72 in Corinth
A child was struck by an 18 wheeler while crossing the 4-lane highway near the intersection of Cass Street in Corinth on Thursday according to Corinth police.
A 12 year old was severely injured after a logging truck hit the child while crossing from North to South on Highway 72. Despite best efforts, the truck was not able to stop before striking the child.
The incident occured around 4:30 and resulted in the child becoming trapped under the vehicle.
The child, identified by police as a 12 year old female, was transported first to Magnolia Regional Health Center and then to LeBonheur childrens hospital.
According to famly, the child made it succesfully through surgery but has multiple other surgeries ahead. She is in serious but stable condition.
