Corinth Woman Charged in Infant’s Death

CORINTH – A local woman has been arrested following a months-long investigation into the death of her newborn child.

Amanda Mitchell, 39, was taken into custody Thursday by the Corinth Police Department and charged with manslaughter – culpable negligence, as well as felony possession of methamphetamine, according to Corinth Police

The case began on November 6, 2024, when Mitchell’s infant died shortly after birth. Investigators awaited the results of an autopsy, which were recently released. The report determined the death was accidental but linked to maternal exposure to fentanyl and methamphetamine.

Police say the findings led to Thursday’s charges, and the case remains under investigation.

More information will be released as it becomes available.
