Alcorn County Sheriff’s Office warns of phone scam claiming officer impersonation

Alcorn County Sheriff’s Office officials have issued a warning after multiple residents reported receiving phone calls from an individual claiming to be a sheriff’s officer.

The caller alleges that the recipient has a warrant and must pay money or face arrest. The sheriff’s office emphasized that this is a scam.

No one from the sheriff’s office will call to request money or payment over the phone, authorities said. Residents are advised to hang up immediately if they receive similar calls.

Sheriff’s officials urged the public to remain cautious and report any suspicious activity to law enforcement.
