Alcorn County Sheriff’s Office warns of scam phone calls

Alcorn County Sheriff’s Office officials announced that multiple residents have received phone calls from individuals claiming to be law enforcement officers. The callers say the recipient has a warrant and must pay money to avoid arrest.

The sheriff’s office emphasized that the calls are scams. No law enforcement agency will call to demand money or payment over the phone, officials said. Residents are advised to hang up immediately if they receive such calls.

Authorities urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious contact to local law enforcement. The sheriff’s office reiterated that they do not request payments or fines over the phone.
