Marginal risk for severe weather persists across much of the Mid-South on Monday

A marginal risk for severe weather remains in effect across much of the Mid-South on Monday, according to the Storm Prediction Center. The risk level is classified as level 1 of 5.

Forecasters say the greatest threat for severe thunderstorms will occur during the afternoon and evening hours. Damaging winds are the primary concern, with large hail and heavy rainfall as secondary hazards.

Most storms are expected to develop upstream in Arkansas or Missouri and move southeast into the area. There is also a possibility of storms moving into the region early Monday, but confidence in early-day storm development is currently low, complicating the forecast.

Residents are advised to stay alert for updates as the potential for severe weather remains in place later today.
