Mississippi Wildlife Officers Receive Water Rescue Training at Ross Barnett Reservoir
Conservation officers from the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks participated in a multi-agency water incident training session at Ross Barnett Reservoir. The training aimed to enhance skills in locating victims using side scan sonar and improving dive operations in dark, muddy waters, according to department officials.
Participants practiced techniques for assisting during dive team operations, ensuring they can respond effectively in challenging conditions. The training also allowed dive team members to maintain and improve their professional standards.
The session was conducted in collaboration with the Hinds County Emergency Operations Center, the Rankin County Emergency Operations Center, and the MDWFP dive team. Officials emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts in water rescue scenarios.
