Mississippi Highway Patrol Honor Guard Participates in National Police Memorial

WASHINGTON — The Mississippi Highway Patrol Honor Guard took part in the 45th Annual National Police Officers’ Memorial Service at the U.S. Capitol, marking the end of National Police Week.

Officers from across the country gathered to pay tribute to fallen law enforcement personnel. The Mississippi team had the opportunity to support and honor the families of three officers from Mississippi who died in the line of duty: Officer Bryan Pippin of the Jackson Police Department, Deputy Joshua Brashears of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, and Deputy Martin Shields Jr. of the Hinds County Sheriff’s Department.

The event provided a platform to remember the sacrifices made by these officers. Mississippi officials said they remain committed to honoring their memory and supporting the loved ones they left behind.

The ceremony underscores the ongoing risks faced by law enforcement and the state’s dedication to recognizing their service and sacrifice.
