The Mississippi Museum of Natural Science has been recognized with the 2025 Torchbearer Award, the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks announced.
According to the department, the museum was honored for its efforts to promote understanding and appreciation of Mississippi’s biological diversity while making its exhibits and programs accessible and welcoming to all visitors.
Officials from the museum expressed pride in their work to create an inclusive environment. They credited the Mississippi Coalition for Citizens with Disabilities for the award and for supporting ongoing efforts to improve accessibility.
“We’re honored to receive the 2025 Torchbearer Award,” a museum representative said. “Our mission is to inspire appreciation for our natural world while ensuring everyone can participate fully.”
The award highlights the museum’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in its educational outreach and public programs.
