A sheriffs department in North Mississippi has issued a warning about scam calls being made targeting the elderly.
From the Itawamba Sheriff’s Department:
We have received reports today of scam calls to the elderly in our county. Please tell your grandparents, parents etc if they receive a call saying a relative has been injured and they need money ASAP to hang up and please do NOT give them any information. They even put a person on the phone pretending to be the injured grandson today. Thankfully they hung up on the scammer and did not fall for it.
If you believe you have received a scam such as this, contact the local police.
