Mississippi Public Schools to close until April 17th by executive order
All public schools are set to close in Missisisppi for a month according to a press release from the governor as the number of covid-19 cases in the state continue to climb.
Governor Tate Reeves is closing schools by executive order.
“This is not a decision I take lightly,” Reeves said via Live video.
Most school distrcit in the state have already closed through the end of the month.
“I will relax end of the year testing requirements,” Reeves said in the video.
School districts will get paid, according to Reeves. Teachers will also be paid, he said.
“This is not a time to panic, we are in uncharted waters but we will get through it,” Reeves added.
