NMHS announces furloughs, salary reductions for healthcare workers

North Mississippi Health Services of Tupelo has announced furloughs and salary reductions due to financial strains caused by COVID-19.

CEO Shane Spees states that the hospital has seen 40-60% less patients coming into their hospital, clinics, and outpatient services. Due to this, furloughs will start next week, and salary reductions for some will start immediately.

“We, the senior leadership team, want you to know we are fighting this battle with you, and thus have taken action to help alleviate some of the financial stress we are under,” stated Spees.

He goes on to inform that the senior leadership team took a 25% cut in salary, effective on April 6th. According to Spees, this is just some of the unavoidable changes to be made over the next several weeks.

He remains optimistic that things will return to normal operations within a few months. More details can be found in the video link below, as well as statements of gratitude to the community for their support during this harrowing time.
