Corinth Police report felony drug arrest on Wednesday

**Felony Drug Arrest**

Suspect: DONALD ALAN JOHNSON (38 YRS)

Charge:

•FELONY POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE (Methamphetamines)

•POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA

On Sunday, 05 February at approximately 02:47 a.m., Officer Oglesby and Officer Whitten were patrolling on U.S. Highway 72 when they spotted three vehicles parked in front of an apparently abandoned building, with one of the vehicles occupied by two males. The Officers then stopped to further investigate the situation and as they did, one male subject exited the vehicle and entered the building.

Officer Oglesby made contact with the driver, Donald Johnson, and he stated that he had been given permission to stay at the building by his passenger, Dustin Bray. A quick call to dispatch confirmed that Mr. Bray had an Active Warrant with the City of Corinth. Officers noticed that there was a wide assortment of items strewn in the vehicle including power tools. Many of the items were consistent with items that are often stolen in car burglaries and burglaries of storage units. Mr. Johnson was directed to exit the vehicle and then gave consent to search his vehicle.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of a clear plastic baggy containing Methamphetamines and a cut straw with Methamphetamine residue on it.

Mr. Johnson was placed under arrest and then transported to the Alcorn County Jail where he was booked in for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and he was later charged for Felony Possession of Controlled Substance (Methamphetamines). The narcotics were processed into evidence and will be transported to the State Crime Lab for confirmation testing. Mr. Bray was also placed under arrest and booked in to the jail for his Active Municipal Warrant.

The felony drug charge will be presented to an Alcorn County Grand Jury and the misdemeanor charges will be handled in Corinth Municipal Court.
