Mississippi man sentenced to life in prison for murder of 3-month-old girl

CORINTH, Miss. — A Mississippi man was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of his three-month-old daughter.

Gabriel Girner, 24, of Sardis, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the Circuit Court of Alcorn County on Tuesday, July 14, 2026. Circuit Judge Michael P. Mills Jr. accepted the plea and sentenced Girner to life in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

Mississippi law mandates that those sentenced to life for first-degree murder are not eligible for parole, according to court records. The charges stem from an investigation by the Corinth Police Department into the June 14, 2023, death of Ivana Rose Girner.

Detective Jerry Rogers led the investigation. The case was prosecuted by District Attorney Jason D. Herring and assistant district attorneys Kyle Robbins and Clay Cummings, on behalf of the state.
