Alligator hunters reminded of permit deadlines and season dates

Alligator hunters drawn for public waters are reminded that the deadline to purchase a possession permit is June 30, 2026, according to the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks.

Hunters who wish to opt out of this year’s season can simply refrain from purchasing a permit before the closing date. The private land alligator permit application deadline is July 1, 2026.

The private lands season runs from noon on August 28 through 6 a.m. on September 21, the agency said. Hunters can find out where and how to apply on the department’s website at mdwfp.com.
