Eighteen residents of the Capitol City Improvement District graduated from the Capitol Police April 2026 Citizens’ Academy, according to a news release from the department.
The eight-day program provides participants with an in-depth look at the operations of Capitol Police. It aims to offer a better understanding of the work officers and staff perform daily.
Designed specifically for residents, the academy encourages ongoing conversations, stronger relationships, and increased community involvement, the release said. The program also promotes transparency and mutual understanding between law enforcement and community members.
The department noted that the academy is part of its efforts to build trust and foster collaboration within the community it serves.
