Corinth graduate credits Northeast for foundation in medicine

John Thomas Gaines of Corinth says his journey toward a medical career started at Northeast Mississippi Community College. He chose the college for its reputation and success in preparing students for health professions, he said.

Gaines noted that challenging coursework and mentorship helped him develop academically and personally. He specifically credited relationships with instructors like Mr. Miller, Dr. Nock, and Mrs. Morris for supporting his growth. These connections contributed to his acceptance into the Mississippi Rural Physicians Scholarship Program.

He described Northeast as more than a school, calling it a community that believed in him. Gaines emphasized that the foundation for his success was built during his time there.

Gaines advised students aspiring to medical careers to stay focused, work hard, ask questions, and take advantage of opportunities at Northeast. He encouraged others to see college as a stepping stone to their future.
