High school student finds career path through NEMCC apprenticeship program

Jaxson Laster, a high school graduate, said he was unsure of his future plans before discovering the Northeast Mississippi Community College (NEMCC) Logistics Management Technology program.

His perspective changed after touring Hago Automotive and participating in the college’s Tiger Apprenticeship. Through the program, Laster worked in Hago while earning his degree, gaining practical experience and earning 17 certifications. He also traveled to Germany for an international apprenticeship opportunity.

He is now the first Logistics Apprentice at Hago Automotive and the first graduate of NEMCC’s Logistics program. Laster is working toward earning his Journeyman credential as a Logistics Engineer.

“This program gave me direction, confidence, and a head start in life,” Laster said. “It showed me that when you take a chance and work hard, so much can come from it.”

If students are unsure about their future, Laster encourages them to consider NEMCC, saying their path might be waiting.
