Hundreds participate in first CCHS 5K at Northeast Mississippi Community College
More than 100 participants took part in the first Congenital Central Hypoventilation Syndrome (CCHS) 5K Fun Run at Northeast Mississippi Community College on Saturday morning. The event took place on and around the college’s Booneville campus.
Participants completed the 3.1-mile course in under an hour, demonstrating strong community support for CCHS awareness and research. The top finishers were Elijah Tucker with a time of 19 minutes and 27 seconds, Christopher Wright with 22:15, and Tony Hilliard with 22:32, according to organizers.
The event raised nearly $4,800 to fund CCHS research efforts. It was organized by Northeast Mississippi Community College Honors Institute student Katie Nock, under the supervision of science instructor Dawn Hilliard.
The run was held in honor of Grayson Mills, an 8-month-old son of Tylor and Lindsay Mills.
