The National Weather Service in Memphis, Tennessee, reported that the city is on track to experience its first 90-degree Fahrenheit day of the year this afternoon.
Forecasters said high humidity levels will cause heat index values to reach near 100°F in parts of the Mid-South region.
The weather service advised residents to stay safe by taking frequent breaks in air-conditioned spaces and drinking plenty of water.
