Mississippi advises new business owners to understand tax laws and register for a tax account

Mississippi officials urge new business owners to understand state tax laws and apply for a tax account before launching their operations.

Business owners can access information on sales and use tax at the Mississippi Department of Revenue website. They are also encouraged to learn about withholding tax and review frequently asked questions related to business taxes.

To register for a tax account, entrepreneurs can use the department’s Taxpayer Access Point, available online. Assistance is available by phone at (601) 923-7015 or via email at sales@dor.ms.gov, according to the department.
