The Prentiss County Sheriff’s Department has charged registered sex offender Jason Ray Dowse with failure to register as a sex offender, following a compliance investigation conducted between August 18 and August 25.
During a routine address check on August 18, investigators determined that Dowse was not residing at his registered address on County Road 1151 in Rienzi, nor at a secondary address on County Road 1190. Further interviews revealed he had been staying intermittently at various locations, including multiple weeks at an unregistered residence in Alcorn County.
After being advised of his rights, Dowse admitted to staying at an unregistered address for longer than the seven-day legal limit required for sex offender notification, according to the sheriff’s department.
Based on the investigation’s findings, Dowse was formally charged with failure to register as a sex offender. Justice Court Judge Ray Hall set his bond at $5,000. The case will be presented to the next Prentiss County grand jury by Investigator Aaron Stolz. Investigator Torie Jumper and Kolby Knight assisted in the case.
