The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks announced that Rick Hamrick received the Firebird Award from the National Bobwhite and Grassland Initiative (NBGI). The award recognizes individuals or groups for outstanding achievements in restoring bobwhite quail populations.
According to MDWFP, Hamrick’s dedication to bobwhite conservation, habitat management, and wildlife stewardship has significantly contributed to efforts to restore the species across Mississippi. His work has helped advance habitat restoration initiatives in the state.
MDWFP expressed pride in Hamrick’s recognition and thanked him for his continued commitment to wildlife and habitat conservation. The department congratulated him on the honor and acknowledged his contributions to Mississippi’s wildlife efforts.
