Mississippi man arrested in home repair fraud case, authorities say
The Prentiss County Sheriff’s Department arrested Jacob Stewart, 32, of Rienzi, Mississippi, on suspicion of home repair fraud, authorities said.
The investigation began after two residents filed a complaint on April 22, 2026, claiming Stewart accepted $12,300 for repair work but performed only minimal labor before abandoning the project, according to reports from the sheriff’s office.
Investigator Aaron Stolz collected financial records, the contract, photographs, and statements from the victims. An affidavit was submitted to Justice Court, which issued a warrant for Stewart’s arrest. On May 13, 2026, deputies took Stewart into custody after contacting him at his residence.
Stewart was advised of his rights and gave a written statement. He appeared before Judge Craig Bishop on May 14, 2026, with a bond set at $25,000 for a professional bond.
The case remains under investigation, authorities said.
