Mississippi State Auditor Responds to Fitch v. White Ruling

JACKSON, Miss. — State Auditor Shad White issued a statement Tuesday following the Mississippi Supreme Court ruling in the Fitch v. White case.

White said the court’s decision confirms that Attorney General Lynn Fitch has the sole authority to file suit to recover misspent taxpayer money. He expressed hope that Fitch will now pursue the recovery of welfare funds more aggressively in court.

White added that he expects Fitch to fight as hard to recover funds as she did to prevent him from doing so. He concluded by stating that Mississippi taxpayers deserve nothing less.
