Northeast Mississippi Community College honors Raina Michael with Northeast Way Award
Raina Michael, an administrative assistant for event planning and housing at Northeast Mississippi Community College, received the Northeast Way Award for this month. The award recognizes individuals who create a welcoming and supportive environment, and Michael exemplifies this daily, according to college officials.
In her nomination, colleagues praised her for consistently going above and beyond to assist students. “She always helps anyone she can and is always friendly, with a smile on her face,” the nomination said. Her kindness leaves a lasting impression on students she serves, college representatives added.
Her impact extends beyond her primary responsibilities. “She makes everything in her department easier and helps connect students to other resources,” officials said. Students noted her willingness to step in and assist in any situation. One student said, “If I need anything, I know I can go to her and she’ll help me or point me in the right direction.”
Another student described her as “probably the nicest worker I’ve ever dealt with at Northeast.” The college highlighted her as an example of the Northeast Way — serving others with kindness, positivity, and a genuine willingness to help.
Michael was congratulated on her recognition and encouraged to continue making a difference. The college also invites nominations for other employees who embody the Northeast Way through a provided online form.
