Northeast Mississippi Community College honors nursing instructor with Northeast Way Award

Northeast Mississippi Community College has awarded Tracey Barron, an instructor in the Practical Nursing Program, the Northeast Way Award for this month. The honor recognizes employees who demonstrate exceptional service, leadership, and care.

According to her nominator, Barron’s influence extends beyond the classroom. A former student described her as “everyone’s favorite teacher,” praising her ability to make lessons engaging and understandable. The student, now a registered nurse teaching nephrology nursing for a global company, credited Barron’s guidance with helping her reach her career goals.

“She taught me how to be not only a nurse, but a GOOD nurse,” the former student said. “I absolutely believe that I would not have gotten this far in my career without her wisdom, positive attitude, and support.”

Barron’s dedication also shines in clinical settings, where she ensures students understand their tasks and fosters a positive learning environment. Her nominator highlighted her ability to explain complex concepts while making learning enjoyable and meaningful.

“She deserves an award for the work she does and the lives she changes,” the nominator added. The college encourages others to nominate deserving employees through an online form.
