Prentiss County Celebrates Senior Citizens with Appreciation Event
PRENTISS COUNTY, Miss. — District Attorney Jason Herring participated in the Prentiss County Senior Citizens Appreciation Day, an event hosted by the sheriff’s department to honor local seniors. Herring expressed gratitude to those who organized and volunteered for the event.
Herring attended alongside Assistant District Attorneys Kyle Robbins and Joel Baldwin, who handle felony prosecutions for the county and state. He credited Sheriff Randy Tolar and the sheriff’s department for hosting the annual event and allowing him to speak.
During his remarks, Herring addressed the rise in scams targeting senior citizens. He warned of phone calls, texts, emails, and social media schemes designed to defraud seniors. Herring advised seniors to slow down, ask questions, and consult trusted individuals before sharing personal information or sending money.
He thanked volunteers, vendors, organizers, and community partners who helped make the event possible. Most of all, Herring expressed appreciation for the senior citizens of Prentiss County, recognizing their contributions to families, communities, and the county itself.
