Prentiss County Constable arrests man on drug charges during trespassing investigation

Prentiss County North Constable Byron Parker arrested James Norman Bennett, 52, of Booneville, on July 31, 2026, after investigating a trespassing and drug activity complaint at Sunflower Housing.

Constable Parker observed several individuals trespassing and loitering in the back parking lot. During the investigation, Bennett was taken into custody and charged with multiple misdemeanors, including possession of crack cocaine, according to authorities.

Judge Craig Bishop of Prentiss County Justice Court set Bennett’s bond at $5,000. North Mississippi Narcotics Agent Grady Smith will present the case to the next grand jury, officials said.
