State team targets waste in small agencies, boards, and commissions

A state team has been working to identify waste within small agencies, boards, and commissions across Mississippi. Officials noted that while much attention is given to large agencies, smaller entities often go unnoticed.

Over the past several weeks, the team has analyzed several organizations, including the Mississippi Board of Pharmacy, the Mississippi Real Estate Commission, and the Mississippi Board of Contractors. They have also reviewed the Mississippi Community College Board, the Mississippi Ethics Commission, the Mississippi Board of Nursing, and the Mississippi Board of Chiropractic Examiners.

Officials indicated that more agencies will be examined in the coming weeks as part of efforts to improve government efficiency and reduce unnecessary spending.
