Booneville’s Andie Kate Ramey Wins NJCAA Golf Preview
Booneville golfer Andie Kate Ramey came from well back on the final day to win the NJCAA South District Preview this week, giving Northeast Mississippi Community College a medalist in one of the biggest fall events on the women’s golf calendar. Northeast Tiger Athletics said the sophomore climbed 10 spots on the leaderboard in the final round and won the tournament by a single shot.
The preview was played at Cider Ridge Golf Club in Oxford, Alabama. It’s a chance for junior college teams in the South District to see the competition, and in some cases the course, they could face again when the postseason arrives in the spring.
How Andie Kate Ramey Won the Preview
Ramey wasn’t near the top after the first round. On the second and final day, she posted a 1-under-par round. According to Northeast Tiger Athletics, it was the only under-par score turned in by any player during the entire tournament.
That round was enough to pass the players ahead of her and take low medalist honors by one stroke. The athletic department called it “a comeback” in its post announcing the win and shared a graphic naming Ramey the event’s medalist.
- Event: NJCAA South District Preview
- Course: Cider Ridge Golf Club, Oxford, Alabama
- Result: Individual medalist, winning by one shot
- Final round: 1-under par, the only under-par round of the tournament
- Move on final day: Up 10 places on the leaderboard
A Mixed Final Day for the Lady Tigers
The team result wasn’t as strong. In an update after the final round, Northeast Tiger Athletics called it “a catch 22 day” for the Lady Tigers. Ramey moved to the top of the individual leaderboard, while the team slipped one spot to finish sixth overall.
This is only the second season of women’s golf at Northeast, which launched the program in 2025-26. The athletic department’s season preview said the Lady Tigers built more roster depth heading into the 2026-27 season after a strong first year of competition.
Booneville Golfer Builds on All-American Freshman Year
The win is another step for a player who has been one of the area’s best golfers for years. Ramey led Booneville High School to a state championship and a state runner-up finish before staying home to play at Northeast in Booneville.
As a freshman last spring, she earned first-team NJCAA All-American honors after placing fourth at the NJCAA national championship. In a college feature about her, Ramey said Northeast “has given me every opportunity to grow not just as a golfer, but as a student and a person.”
What’s Next for Northeast Women’s Golf
The Lady Tigers are back on the course next week. According to the official Northeast schedule, the team plays the Atomic City Classic at Oak Ridge Country Club in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, on Monday, Oct. 5, and Tuesday, Oct. 6.
After that, Northeast heads to the Jefferson State Fall Invitational at Musgrove Country Club in Jasper, Alabama, on Oct. 26-27. The team has two more fall events in November.
