Columbia Police seek guardian after toddler found walking near highway
COLUMBIA, Miss. – Columbia Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the guardian of a toddler found walking alone near a busy roadway Saturday evening.
At around 8:45 p.m. on August 16, 2025, dispatchers received a call about a small child walking along U.S. 98 East. Officers responding to the scene discovered a Black female child, believed to be about two years old, walking dangerously close to the road.
The child was brought to safety, and police are now working to locate her parent or guardian.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact 911 immediately.
Due to privacy concerns, officials say a photo of the child cannot be released at this time.
