Starkville Woman Charged in Fatal Gladney Street Stabbing

STARKVILLE – A Starkville woman has been charged with first-degree murder following a fatal stabbing early Wednesday morning.

According to the Starkville Police Department, officers responded to a Gladney Street residence at approximately 12:57 a.m. on Aug. 14, where they found 27-year-old Tykell Harvey deceased from stab wounds.

Investigators determined the victim and suspect, 28-year-old Amiya Brown, were in a dating relationship. Brown was arrested at the scene and is being held at the Oktibbeha County Jail.

Police say the case remains under investigation and urge anyone with information to contact Starkville Police at 662-323-4131, Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at 800-530-7151, or submit an anonymous tip online. Crime Stoppers may offer a cash reward.

Authorities also reminded the public of the prevalence of domestic violence and encouraged victims or those who suspect abuse to seek help immediately.
