Shelby County Schools to Shift to Virtual Learning Only
Shelby County School System has decided to do virtual learning only until further notice.
The decision was made after more than 80% of parents signed their children up for virtual learning. Superintendent Dr. Joris M. Ray stated that virtual classes are set to begin on August 31st.
Shelby County School leaders said that each student will receive a device for virtual learning beginning next week. The distribution will continue through September.
Each school will also provide multi-day meal packs to families who rely on school meals. School will provide additional info to families.
SCS is also identifying local child-care service, for example, YMCA, who can offer low or no-cost childcare options for families of essential workers.
