A colonial menu for America’s 250th
The museum says guests will get a “colonial-inspired experience” this year, with dinner catered by Datan’s Pie Shoppe & Catering. Each guest will also take home an America-themed gift.
Organizers told the Daily Corinthian that past dinners leaned toward fall themes, but this year they chose traditional dishes to mark the nation’s 250th anniversary and tried to keep the menu as historically accurate as they could.
After dinner, guests will watch the film adaptation of the Broadway musical “1776,” which tells the story of the Continental Congress and the Declaration of Independence. The 1972 film follows John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson and other delegates through the summer debates in Philadelphia that led to the vote for independence, which makes it a fitting choice for a semiquincentennial evening.
How to get tickets before the deadline
The museum’s poster and Facebook post both list Friday, Oct. 9, as the last day to purchase tickets. Anyone who wants a seat can buy one in person at the Crossroads Museum or use the ticket link in the museum’s Facebook post. Questions can go to the museum at the phone numbers listed above. The museum has not advertised tickets at the door.
Supporting local history
Money raised by the dinner goes to the Crossroads Museum, a nonprofit that works to protect and preserve the history of Corinth and Alcorn County. The museum is in Corinth’s historic train depot downtown, and its exhibits cover the city’s railroad roots, the Civil War era and local life.
Farm to Fork is one of several events on Corinth’s fall calendar. The Corinth Green Market and Fall Festival is set for Oct. 17, and the Corinth Symphony Orchestra opens its season this Sunday with its Wizards & Wands concert.
