School meals in Alcorn County won’t be free this year…

PRESS RELEASE

🚨🚨🚨 🚨🚨🚨 DID YOU KNOW? At this time, school meals will not be free for the 2022-23 school year.
WHY AREN’T SCHOOL MEALS FREE IN THE 2022-2023 SCHOOL YEAR? During the pandemic, the USDA knew many people found themselves struggling financially. They did not want school food to be a concern for families. So, they passed waivers allowing all students to have a free breakfast and lunch.
As things are slowly getting back to normal, as of today, Congress has not extended these waivers. As a result, the Alcorn School District will be returning back to regularly priced meals.
Full Price Students – $2.50 for lunch and $1.00 for breakfast.
ASD wants to encourage all families to complete a meal benefit application which will be available July 1, 2022.
The link to online applications is www.myschoolapps.com.  Lunch applications must be filled out every year. Please complete only one application for your family.
You may also add money to your student’s account by going to www.myschoolbucks.com
