On Thursday, 26 January at approximately 2:59 a.m., Officer Pannell was patrolling on Wenasoga Road when he spotted a vehicle operating with the license plate obstructed from view. Officer Pannell initiated a traffic stop to further investigate the vehicle’s license status. After approaching the vehicle, Officer Pannell further noted that the vehicle’s tag light was inoperable and the tag was expired.

While interviewing the driver, Joseph Ezekiel Wilhite, it was discovered that he had no valid driver license and no insurance on the vehicle. Radio traffic with dispatch determined that Mr. Wilhite had numerous Active Warrants with the city of Corinth. Mr. Wilhite was then directed to exit the vehicle and was placed under arrest. Mr. Wilhite then gave consent for a search of his vehicle.

While searching the vehicle, Officers discovered a plastic bag containing Methamphetamines and a glass pipe concealed inside a loose panel near the steering column.

Mr. Wilhite was then transported to the Alcorn County Jail where he was booked in for his Active Warrants, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, numerous traffic infractions and he was later charged for Felony Possession of Controlled Substance (Methamphetamines). The narcotics were processed into evidence and will be transported to the State Crime Lab for confirmation testing.

The felony drug charge will be presented to an Alcorn County Grand Jury and the misdemeanor charges will be handled in Corinth Municipal Court.
