Felony drug arrest in Corinth on Wednesday

Suspect: DENARIO JAMEL GRAHAM (36 YRS)

Charge:

FELONY POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE

• POSSESSION OF FIREARM BY A CONVICTED FELON

• POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA IN A MOTOR VEHICLE

• NUMEROUS TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS

On Wednesday, 25 January at approximately 01:14 a.m., Officer Lettieri was patrolling on North Parkway when he observed a vehicle that was operating with equipment violations. Officer Lettieri initiated a traffic stop and approached the vehicle to interview the driver, Denario Jamel Graham.

While Officer Lettieri was interviewing the driver he detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Officer Lettieri asked Mr. Graham if there were any illegal narcotics or weapons in the vehicle and Mr. Graham replied that there wasn’t anything illegal in the car but he had smoked marijuana in the car earlier.

Having detected the strong odor of marijuana, Officer Lettieri directed Mr. Graham to exit the vehicle in order to further investigate the presence of narcotics. During the search, Officer Lettieri discovered a backpack containing a gray pouch containing marijuana, a yellow baggy containing cocaine, and a loaded 9mm Mossberg handgun.

Mr. Graham was placed under arrest then transported to the Alcorn County Jail where he was booked in for Possession of Marijuana in a Motor Vehicle, numerous Traffic Violations, and he was later charged for Felony Possession of Controlled Substance (Cocaine) with a Firearms Enhancement and Felon in Possession of a Weapon. The narcotics were processed into evidence and will be transported to the State Crime Lab for confirmation testing.

The felony drug charge and Felon in Possession of a Firearm charge will be presented to an Alcorn County Grand Jury and the misdemeanor charges will be handled in Corinth Municipal Court.
