Corinth Mayor Dance, Chief Tucker Sworn In for New Terms
Corinth Mayor Ralph Dance and Police Chief Landon Tucker took the oath of office Monday afternoon, officially beginning the city’s next four-year term. The Corinth mayor sworn in ceremony was administered by Circuit Judge John White, according to the Daily Corinthian.
Corinth Mayor Sworn In for a Second Term
Dance, a former Corinth police chief, won re-election on Oct. 13 with 1,303 votes, about 60 percent of the ballots cast in complete election-night numbers. Former three-term mayor Tommy Irwin finished second with 415 votes (19 percent), followed by Taylor Coombs Moak with 351 votes (16 percent) and Nestly Gates with 88.
The win gave Dance a far wider margin than four years ago, when he narrowly unseated an incumbent mayor.
Police Chief Tucker Begins Another Term
Tucker, who heads the Corinth Police Department, also recited the oath with Judge White as he heads into a second term. Tucker has been the department’s public face on several recent matters, including an emergency city ordinance banning kratom and a search of a local smoke shop earlier this month.
Aldermen to Be Sworn In Nov. 3
The transition to the new term continues at the Board of Aldermen’s first meeting of the term:
- Date: Tuesday, Nov. 3
- Swearing-in for aldermen: 4:30 p.m.
- Regular meeting: to follow the swearing-in
Corinth’s board of mayor and aldermen meets at City Hall, and meetings are open to the public.
