Corinth Shooting Arrest: Man Charged With Kidnapping
Corinth police have made an arrest in Thursday’s shooting near Scott Street. A 39-year-old Corinth man is charged with kidnapping and attempted murder. Investigators accuse him of taking the victim at gunpoint and then shooting that person. The Corinth shooting arrest came Friday afternoon, about a day after officers found the wounded victim in the roadway.
Bacarra Lamar Hill, 39, of Corinth, was taken into custody Friday, Oct. 2, according to the Corinth Police Department. He faces one count of kidnapping and one count of attempted murder. The Daily Corinthian reported that he was being held without bond Friday evening.
Corinth Shooting Arrest Follows Thursday Investigation
The case began Thursday afternoon, Oct. 1, when officers found a person lying in the roadway in the Scott Street area with what looked like a gunshot wound. Police said the victim was flown by medical helicopter from the Belk parking lot to Regional One Health in Memphis. Authorities have not released the victim’s name or current condition.
Police allege that Hill kidnapped the victim at gunpoint and that the shooting happened at a different location from where the victim was taken. Investigators have not publicly said how the two people knew each other or what led up to the incident.
SWAT Team Assisted With Traffic Stop
According to police, Hill was captured at about 4:30 p.m. during a traffic stop. Corinth officers and detectives worked the stop together with the Corinth-Alcorn County SWAT team.
