MEMA watches a Gulf disturbance with high development odds

The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency said it is closely monitoring the tropics after the National Hurricane Center said a disturbance has a 90% chance of developing into a tropical cyclone over the next 48 hours. MEMA said it is still too soon to determine the storm’s strength or impacts.

The agency urged people to keep following MEMA, the National Hurricane Center and local meteorologists for updates. The NOAA and NHC outlook graphic shows a development area in the western Gulf of Mexico.
