Lighthouse Foundation Toy Store Registration Opens Nov. 2

Families in Alcorn County who need help with Christmas this year can begin signing up next week. Lighthouse Foundation Toy Store registration opens Monday, Nov. 2, at the foundation’s office in Corinth, according to the Daily Corinthian.

The Corinth nonprofit has held its Toy Store every Christmas since 1995. It gives parents and guardians the chance to pick out gifts for their children at no cost. Last year, the program served about 350 Alcorn County families and provided Christmas gifts for roughly 900 local children, the newspaper reported.

Lighthouse Foundation Toy Store Registration Details

  • Dates: Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, Nov. 2 through Nov. 20
  • Time: 9 a.m. to noon
  • Location: The Lighthouse Foundation, 1103 S. Johns St., Corinth
  • Who qualifies: Alcorn County families with children from newborn to age 18

Registration is done in person so staff can talk with each family about its needs. Each sign-up includes a brief interview, and a Spanish translator is available at every session.

What to Bring

  • A photo ID
  • Proof of Alcorn County residency, such as two bills or a bank statement
  • A birth certificate for each child being registered

Toy Store Day Is Dec. 10

The Toy Store itself will be held on Thursday, Dec. 10, at the Lighthouse Foundation. Registered families are given a shopping time ahead of the event. In past years, families have chosen about four toys per child. Organizers told the Daily Corinthian they plan to shop Black Friday sales to help stretch donations further as toy prices rise.

“We want to keep it the same,” Lighthouse executive director Gary Caveness told the newspaper about the program’s approach. Several local churches support the effort with money, volunteers and items, and volunteer details are expected in the coming weeks.

How to Help

Donations can be made online at lighthousecorinth.org, or by cash or check mailed to the Lighthouse Foundation, P.O. Box 2121, Corinth, MS 38835, or dropped off at the foundation’s office. For questions about registration, call the Lighthouse Foundation at 662-286-0091.
