Booneville police investigate fatal hit-and-run involving bicyclist

The Booneville Police Department is investigating a fatal hit-and-run that occurred Wednesday at approximately 2:20 a.m. on West Chambers Drive near Jim Drewery Road, according to a news release.

Investigators say a bicyclist was struck by a vehicle, which then fled the scene. The bicyclist sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The department is asking for the public’s assistance. Authorities encourage anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant information to contact Booneville police at 662-728-5611 or to submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-773-TIPS. Police emphasized that even small details could aid the ongoing investigation.
